Practical preparedness for everyday people. No fear-mongering, no extremism—just real-world skills and gear that work when you need them most.
We focus on realistic scenarios faced by everyday working people — from getting home after a disruption to managing equipment, fatigue, and decision-making under stress.
Blue Collar Prepper attracts people who value practical preparation, honest evaluation, and learning from real experience — not hype or theory.
Preparation isn’t about extremes — it’s about making it back to the people who depend on you. Family is the reason preparation matters.
Studies show that 68% of Americans live within 125 miles of their workplace. For most of us, that commute is routine—until it isn’t.
What happens when a natural disaster, infrastructure failure, or emergency strands you far from home? How would you get back to your family?
Blue Collar Prepper was born from this question. We’re regular working people who decided to take our preparedness seriously—not with bunkers and doomsday scenarios, but with practical skills, tested gear, and a solid plan.
The Blue Collar Prepper is built around practical preparedness rooted in real-world conditions. We are working for the 68% — regular people balancing families, jobs, and responsibilities, not full-time preppers or extreme scenarios. Preparation here has to fit real life, not replace it.
Gear, planning, and decision-making are evaluated based on what holds up over time and under stress, not what sounds good on paper. The focus remains on realistic situations, honest testing, and adapting when assumptions don’t survive contact with distance, fatigue, or conditions.
The Blue Collar Prepper was created by Jim Nanos, whose background spans more than two decades in both military and law enforcement environments where planning, structure, and decision-making under pressure were not optional.
Over the course of his career, Jim spent 28 years in law enforcement and 23 years concurrent in the military reserve with several real-world, post 9/11 deployments.
Jim brings extensive experience providing structured training to law enforcement personnel, military members, and civilians with work focusing on preparation, discipline, and adapting plans when conditions change — skills that directly translate to real-world preparedness.
Today, as a licensed private investigator, that same mindset continues to apply: long hours, fatigue, logistics, observation, and judgment under imperfect conditions. Blue Collar Prepper exists to bring those lessons into a practical framework that works for regular people with families, jobs, and responsibilities — preparation that fits real life, not fantasy scenarios.
The focus remains on preparation that is tested, adaptable, and realistic — because when conditions matter, theory isn’t enough – Exactly who the 68%’ers are!
